Honuala’i, Sullivan Estate Wedding ~ Missing Piece and the Big O Theme

This unique wedding design was inspired by the book, “The Missing Piece Meets the Big O”. The bride’s main request for us in designing this wedding was that we incorporated the book and that everything be as unique and as different as possible, while still being tasteful and romantic. When working on the design, I wanted to come up with elegant ways to incorporate the circle and triangle shapes found in the book. I chose flowers, like the scabiosa pods, air plants, and anemones, that reflected these shapes and added interesting textures to the bouquets and centerpieces. I also wanted to bring in an organic and natural feeling that would blend well with the outdoor venue and the couple’s love of nature and keep in line with their chosen color scheme of dark brown and emerald green. So, I chose moss rocks and polished rocks as organic accents and place markers.  The bride also has a love for crystals and wanted to bring in some crystal elements that would match her crystal covered gown. The chandeliers, speciality water glasses, and sparkly spheres added this element and contrasted well with the other raw accents. For the cake, I knew I wanted to do a triangle because it is so rarely seen and would really take an otherwise ordinary cake to the next level! We even had the cake painted with luster dust to give it a bit of sparkle as well. We custom designed a cocktail for the party called The Big O that was a big hit and finally, the bride’s guilty pleasure is donuts so we did a creative dessert display of whole donuts, “the big o’s” and donut holes, “the missing pieces”, to tie back in to the theme. The couple was thrilled with the design and I have to say, it was really a very fun wedding to create!
